DINUBA, CA — A 60-year-old man died Saturday afternoon after a tractor he was driving overturned and pinned him during yard work in rural Tulare County.

The accident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. on Feb. 7 near the intersection of Road 64 and Avenue 384 in the Dinuba area. According to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office, Ernest Torres was working at a house when the vehicle flipped.

Torres had attached a chain to the tractor to pull up a small tree on the property. Deputies said the tractor became unstable as it pulled the tree, causing the vehicle to flip over and pin him underneath.

Family members in the yard witnessed the accident. Tulare County sheriff’s deputies and medical personnel arrived at the scene and tried to save him. Despite their efforts, Torres could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office released Torres’ name on Sunday.
