FRESNO, CA — Adrian’s Mexican Restaurant is celebrating 45 years in business in Fresno. Located on Belmont Avenue, the local eatery has become a neighborhood staple known for its traditional menu and decades of family ownership.
The business has been family-run since the current owner’s father bought it from the original owners 30 years ago. Today, the staff is made up of five siblings and various extended family members, including cousins who help out during school breaks.
The restaurant is particularly recognized for its flour tortillas, which are made by hand from scratch every day. According to SFGATE, making food the traditional way has helped the restaurant stay popular for more than four decades.
The eatery is housed in a small red and green building situated between a tire store and a tobacco shop. It is easily identified by a distinctive thunderbolt-shaped sign along the road. Customers order and pick up their food through barred walk-up windows. Since there are no tables or chairs for customers, the business focuses entirely on takeout orders.
The menu features a variety of traditional items, including shredded beef enchiladas, nachos, and meat stews known as guisos. For breakfast, the restaurant offers burritos priced at $7.75, with options such as chorizo and egg or egg and potatoes.
While the handmade tortillas are a daily draw, the restaurant is also very busy selling tamales during the holiday season. Staff members typically see a significant increase in demand for tamales during the week of Christmas.
Adrian’s Mexican Restaurant continues to follow the family traditions and recipes that have made it a Fresno favorite for 45 years.
