VISALIA, CA — Amazon is expanding in Visalia with plans to open a third distribution center, which is expected to create 471 new local jobs.
In a project report filed with the City of Visalia on Jan. 2, 2026, the company confirmed it will occupy a 1.27 million-square-foot warehouse at 4001 Plaza Drive. Amazon expects to begin operations at the site in late 2026.
The new distribution hub sits on 75 acres north of Riggin Avenue. Newport Beach-based developer CapRock Partners finished the building in 2024. The firm also built Amazon’s two other facilities in the Visalia area.
Once the center opens, it will run 20 hours a day, six and a half days a week. To handle heavy traffic at the site, the facility will feature 731 parking spaces for employees and 524 spots for trailers.
As part of Amazon’s goal to reach zero carbon emissions by 2040, the center will use electric and hydrogen-powered equipment, such as forklifts and trucks. The facility will use machines called electrolyzers to produce hydrogen fuel on-site. These machines use renewable electricity to pull hydrogen from water, which then powers the warehouse equipment.
The expansion represents major growth for the company in the region, filling a massive building that has been empty since it was finished. City documents show the hub will support Amazon’s shipping and delivery network throughout the area.
The warehouse is a major part of the larger CapRock Central Point development project. This industrial project will eventually include four buildings totaling 2.7 million square feet in the Visalia industrial park.
