FARMERSVILLE, CA — State and local officials gathered Tuesday, Jan. 20, for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of Fire Station 83.

Senator Melissa Hurtado joined Farmersville city leaders and Tulare County officials to celebrate the completion of the new station. The project was funded by $7 million from the 2022 California state budget, money that Senator Hurtado secured to cover the final construction costs.

The new station is expected to improve emergency services throughout the area. Fire Chief Jim Thomas said the facility will help firefighters work more effectively and respond to calls faster. He noted that the station was built to serve Farmersville families for many years to come.

City and county leaders highlighted the importance of the project for the community’s growth and protection. Mayor Tina Hernandez said the station represents the city's dedication to ensuring the safety of its residents.

Tulare County Supervisor Larry Micari also spoke at the event, calling the new station a major improvement and a significant investment in the city’s future.

Fire Station 83 is now open and ready to serve the people of Farmersville.
