FARMERSVILLE, CA — An 87-year-old local resident died Sunday evening after he was hit by a truck in a suspected DUI collision on South Farmersville Boulevard.
The Farmersville Police Department reported that the crash occurred about 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 11 in the 600 block of South Farmersville Boulevard, near Oakland Street.
According to a department press release, a 2002 black Chevrolet Silverado was traveling southbound when the front right side of the truck hit the pedestrian. Preliminary reports suggest the pedestrian may have been trying to cross the street in front of the oncoming truck.

While the driver, a 38-year-old man from Exeter, stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, officers determined he was intoxicated. He was arrested and booked into the Tulare County jail on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and felony driving under the influence.
