VISALIA, CA — Hands in the Community is selling tickets for its annual Valentine’s Day Raffle to raise money for its local programs. The drawing will be held Feb. 6.

Tickets cost $50 each and are available until the day of the drawing. This year’s grand prize features an overnight stay at Wonder Valley Ranch Resort, which includes dinner for two with champagne, a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride, and breakfast. Participants also have a chance to win a European facial and a deluxe pedicure from CreekSide Day Spa & Skin Center in Visalia.

The fundraiser comes at a critical time for the nonprofit. According to the Visalia Times-Delta, new owners recently bought the organization’s building, and a rent hike might force the group to move to a cheaper location.

This financial strain arrives as the organization handles a record number of requests for help. To keep up with the workload, the group is looking to hire a paid staff member to run its call center.

Hands in the Community helps low-income families, children, veterans, seniors, and people with disabilities. Since it began serving the community in 2009, the group has assisted more than 6,500 households by connecting them with services that help them live independently.

Lester Moon founded the organization in 2008 after running a similar nonprofit in San Mateo County for 25 years. The nonprofit currently provides resources to residents throughout Tulare, Kings, and southern Fresno counties.

Money raised from the raffle will allow the nonprofit to continue helping local residents become more self-reliant. For more information, contact the Hands in the Community office directly.
