FRESNO, CA — Caltrans crews are starting several road improvement projects along Highway 99 in Fresno County this week, which will result in lane closures and travel delays.

According to Caltrans, the southbound lanes of Highway 99 near Belmont Avenue will close for repaving at 8:15 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 23. These lanes are expected to stay closed for nearly a week while crews fix the road surface. Officials expect the lanes to reopen at approximately 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29.

Commuters will also run into lane closures near the Fresno city limits on Friday. Caltrans reported that one northbound lane south of American Avenue will also close for repairs that day.

As these new projects begin, work on other sections of the highway has recently wrapped up. Caltrans crews finished maintenance on a portion of Highway 99 near Church Avenue, south of Jensen Avenue, earlier this week.

Caltrans is managing these projects as part of its ongoing work to maintain Fresno County highways.
