TULARE COUNTY, CA — U.S. News & World Report named Kaweah Health a "High Performing" hospital for maternity care in its 2026 rankings. The award, released on January 1, 2026, recognizes the quality of care provided to new parents and their babies.
The rankings are designed to help expectant parents find high-quality birth services using scores based on hospital data. To find the results, researchers surveyed more than 900 hospitals across the country. They reviewed birth records and hospital data to identify the best facilities.
The evaluation focused on several key factors, including newborn health, C-section rates, and breastfeeding support. Hospital officials stated the "High Performing" status shows their commitment to providing safe, high-quality care for mothers and babies.
Rhonda Quinones, the Director of Maternal Child Health at Kaweah Health, said the recognition highlights the dedication of the hospital’s maternal care teams. These teams provide care for new mothers and welcome more than 4,000 babies each year.
Founded in 1961, Kaweah Health is a public healthcare organization and is currently the largest hospital in Tulare County. As a major employer in the region, the hospital has a staff of more than 5,200 people, including a medical team of about 670 professionals.
In addition to maternity services, Kaweah Health runs several other specialized centers to serve the area. These include an advanced trauma center for serious emergencies, cancer treatment services, and urgent care centers. The organization also offers specialized rehabilitation services for local residents.
