VISALIA, CA — Visalia police arrested a 24-year-old Lemoore resident Friday morning after finding several illegal guns and ammunition during a traffic stop.
According to the Visalia Police Department, an officer stopped the car at the intersection of Tulare Avenue and Court Street shortly after 8:00 a.m. on Jan. 23 because it was missing a license plate. During the stop, the officer spotted part of a gun inside the car. After searching the vehicle, the officer found several more illegal weapons and ammunition.
The department reported that the following items were seized:
- One illegally modified AR-style pistol
- One unregistered, homemade AR-style pistol
- A disassembled short-barreled shotgun
- Two AR-15 high-capacity magazines
- Several .223 caliber rounds
Following the discovery, police arrested the driver. The 24-year-old faces several charges, including possession of an illegal assault weapon, carrying a concealed and loaded gun, and having a firearm with a removed or altered serial number.
