LINDSAY, CA — Management at the Lindsay-Strathmore Cemetery issued a formal notice to the public on January 23, 2026, to address ongoing issues with large groups visiting the grounds.
The notice follows complaints from families who were unable to mourn properly because other visitors were parking cars and placing furniture on nearby graves. These gatherings have blocked access to plots, leading other visitors to call the behavior disrespectful.
Official cemetery rules ban items like tables, chairs, and sun shades. Management noted these rules are included in the agreements families sign when they make burial plans. Along with the furniture ban, officials reminded the public that eating, drinking alcohol, and barbecuing are not allowed anywhere on the property.
To maintain a peaceful environment, management asks visitors to limit group sizes and keep personal items off nearby graves. Officials said these steps are necessary to keep the cemetery a respectful place for everyone.
Management warned that vehicle gates may be locked in the future if visitors continue to break rules or act disruptively. According to officials, locking the gates would protect the rights of all families to visit their loved ones in peace.
