DELANO, CA — Target plans to open a new store in Delano by March 2026. The new location will offer residents a more convenient place to shop close to home.
According to reporting from 23ABC News, the new store is expected to create about 170 jobs for people in the community. These positions will provide local families with steady work and the chance to build careers within the city.
Delano Mayor Salvador Solorio-Ruiz said the arrival of the major retailer is a key part of the community's growth and a big boost for the city’s future.
While the new store brings a national retailer to the area, at least one local business manager says he is ready for the competition. Carlos Martinez, who manages the Monster Deals liquidation store on Main Street, told 23ABC News that he does not view the new Target as a threat to his business.
Martinez explained that his shop offers lower prices than big-box stores on many products. He believes these savings will help him keep his regular customers even after the new Target opens.
