TULARE, CA — The Tulare City School District held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday morning to celebrate the opening of its new Outdoor Education Complex.

Located at 2890 S. Foster Drive, the 27-acre facility is designed to be a central location for student sports and community activities. District officials said the new complex will help students build teamwork and leadership skills while easing overcrowding at other schools throughout the city.

Mayor Patrick Isherwood and members of the Tulare City Council attended the 9 a.m. event to show their support. They praised the planning and hard work it took to finish the project.

Tulare City School District Superintendent Ira Porchia told the crowd the project is a major investment in the students' future. He also congratulated the student-athletes who will benefit from the new grounds.

Cathy Mederos, a local high school district board member, called the project a forward-thinking move that benefits the entire Tulare area. She thanked the district for providing the new space for the community.

District officials expect the site to serve as a resource for the local community for years to come.
