VISALIA, CA — A 55-year-old deputy from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office was arrested on charges of domestic violence earlier this month following an incident in Visalia.
The arrest occurred on Jan. 2 at a residence near James Court, south of Caldwell Avenue. According to the Visalia Police Department, officers took the deputy into custody after receiving a report of domestic violence at the home.
In response to the arrest, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office has taken the deputy off duty. The individual was placed on administrative leave while the department conducts an investigation into the matter.
According to reporting from KFSN, officials decided to hold the deputy in the Kings County Jail for procedural reasons, despite the incident occurring within Tulare County.
