Vandals Topple at Least 12 Grave Markers at Calvary Cemetery in Hanford

Restoration work is underway as the Kings County Sheriff’s Department seeks information from the public

HANFORD, CA — Authorities are investigating an act of vandalism at Calvary Cemetery after at least 12 grave markers were found toppled and scattered across the grounds.

According to Fox 26 News, the damage was spread across several areas of the cemetery.

Restoration work started Monday, Feb. 2, as maintenance workers and staff from Hanford Granite prepared to repair the damaged stones and foundations.

Cemetery staff are currently contacting the families of those whose graves were damaged. While several families have already been alerted, officials noted that not all have been reached yet. The cemetery district asks any families who find damage but haven’t been contacted yet to call the office at (559) 584-3937.

The Kings County Sheriff's Department is leading the investigation into the incident. Law enforcement is seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed suspicious behavior at or near the cemetery.
