VISALIA, CA — Visalia firefighters saved a home Sunday evening after putting out a fire that destroyed an attached building.
Crews responded to the house fire in the 1400 block of North Highland around 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 25. When they arrived, they found a blaze involving a building attached to the home. While that structure was completely destroyed, the main house suffered only minor damage.
Led by a battalion chief, a team of 16 firefighters used four engines and a ladder truck to put out the fire. According to the Visalia Fire Department, no residents or firefighters were injured during the emergency.
Houston Avenue was closed at Highland because fire hoses were stretched across the street to reach the flames. The closure remained in place while crews worked at the scene.
The American Red Cross is helping the residents affected by the fire.
