Visalia Man Arrested for Attempted Murder After Hammer Attack

VISALIA, CA — A 41-year-old man was arrested Thursday morning after he allegedly attacked his roommate with a hammer. Visalia Police said the attack happened during an argument at a home in the 1700 block of South Central Street.

The incident occurred around 4:40 a.m. on Jan. 29. According to police, the suspect hit the victim in the head multiple times with a hammer.

When officers arrived at the home, they spotted the suspect trying to drive away. This led to a short car chase through the area before the suspect eventually surrendered to police.

The victim was taken to Kaweah Health Medical Center for head injuries and is reported to be in stable condition.

Following the arrest, the suspect was booked into the Tulare County jail on suspicion of attempted murder.

Detectives from the Visalia Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit are still investigating what led to the attack.
