VISALIA, CA — The Visalia Police Department is asking for public help to find a driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian last Sunday.

According to a press release from the department, officers responded to the intersection of Giddings Street and Howard Avenue shortly after midnight on Sunday, Jan. 18. Upon arrival, they found a woman had been struck by a vehicle.

Emergency responders transported the unidentified woman by ambulance to Kaweah Health. She later died at the hospital from injuries she suffered in the crash.

The driver involved in the crash fled the scene before police arrived. Using evidence from the scene, Traffic Unit investigators identified a possible suspect vehicle. They are currently searching for a 2004 or 2005 Honda Civic. Police noted the car likely has visible damage to its front end.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has information about the vehicle to come forward. The Traffic Unit is specifically looking for any relevant photos or video recordings that may have captured the event or the vehicle involved.
