VISALIA, CA — Visalia Police arrested a 52-year-old man and seized an unregistered firearm during a traffic stop at Plaza Park on January 11, 2026.

Officers were patrolling the park at about 10:30 a.m. when they stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. According to Fox 26 News, the stop led to a search of the car, where officers found a weapon hidden inside the center console.

The firearm was identified as an unregistered P80 "ghost gun," which is a type of weapon typically assembled from a kit. In addition to the handgun, officers found 9mm ammunition and four magazines, including three standard Glock magazines and one 22-round high-capacity magazine.

Following the search, the man was booked on several gun-related charges.

Officers also cited a 52-year-old female passenger for an active misdemeanor warrant and possession of drug-related items. She was released at the scene.

Police said the arrest took an illegal gun and a high-capacity magazine off the streets.
