VISALIA, CA — The Visalia Parks and Recreation Department is drafting a new Master Plan to guide the city’s recreational future and is inviting residents to share their thoughts at a public meeting next month.
The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 6 p.m. at the Visalia Senior Center, located at 310 N. Locust St.
According to a city press release, the Master Plan will act as a roadmap to help the city keep up as Visalia grows and changes. By setting clear goals now, the department aims to set priorities for parks and activities that will serve the city for years to come.
Core Principles
The planning process is centered around three main goals:
- Community involvement
- Fairness for all residents
- Easy access to facilities
These goals will help the final plan meet the specific needs of every neighborhood and give everyone equal access to parks and programs.
Seeking Public Input
The department is looking for feedback on current parks and activities, as well as suggestions for what individual neighborhoods might need. By gathering this input, city officials aim to ensure no part of town is left out of the planning process.
The upcoming meeting offers a direct way for the public to help shape the future of local recreation. City officials say this feedback is vital to make sure the plan reflects what the community actually wants and needs.
Anyone interested in the future of local parks is encouraged to attend and share their thoughts. By participating in the drafting process, community members can help define how Visalia manages its parks and programs as the population continues to increase.
